3/24/2024 0 Comments Honda navigation update 2019If you scroll through your city list, any of those listed with an asterisk, seemed to display this. Come to find out, I believe anyone can duplicate this error message. Being from the area, this wasn't that big of a deal, but if you are not from the area, you will be screwed because how would you know which town the address was merged into. Highlands Ranch has a population of roughly 100,000 so it isn't like this is some small town. Come to find out, they combined it with Littleton. An example, for those familiar with the Denver area, When I enter in Highlands ranch for the city, the attached error pops up right away. He confirmed that this is something we cannot do and that it needs to be hooked up to Honda's computer system to reboot it.Īs for the addresses, he told me that Honda and their infinite wisdom decided to "combine" a lot of cities/town/etc. An example was when we started the car, it took close to a minute before it would realize you were in park and allow you to click the address button.Īnyways, so the Honda dealership did a full reboot of the system which seemed to correct the slowness. On top of that, the navigation was running extremely slow. We had our list of addresses and every time we entered an address, we got the attached error. This past Saturday, my wife and I decided to hit up a few garage sales. I installed it right away, but didn't really use the Navigation for a while. I bought the update a few months back which it was $50.00 off. Your mileage may vary.I just wanted to update this thread for anyone thinking about updating. The entire process went surprisingly well. It took about 30 minutes to update - so I just went for a little drive. and yes you must have the truck running during the update process. When you are done downloading new maps, take the flash drive back to your truck, put the drive in the USB port, start up Ridgeline and updated (you'll have to hunt to find the correct menu). said it would take over an hour, it took 34 minutes. Depending on you connection speed it will take a little while. If you need updates, they will download to your USB device. will recognize the device (you have to register the device the first time (Your email and make up a password). Since I already had it for my Garmin watch and bike computers, etc. on your laptop, PC or other compatible device you will have to install it. Turn off truck after this file is save to your flash drive - takes like 5 seconds. What is basically happening is, the radio/nav unit is putting a file on your flash drive that will allow the Software on your computer (Garmin Express) as a Garmin device. You then initialize (don't know if that's technically the correct term) the usb drive. Then you navigate to the Honda Navigation Maps menu (Link to complete directions below) and sort through various menus. You truck nust be on (so says the Nav unit), this steps takes about 2 minutes - tops.įirst you insert a USB Drive (over 16GB) before you turn on the car, so when you start up the drive is already in the USB port. Yes, truck must be running takes about 30 minutes. Step 3, Loading new maps from flashdrive to your Navigation software in your truck. Step 2, Loading new maps onto flash drive from your computer. Yes, Truck need to be running in step 1, where you teach the radio to recognize the USB drive you are using ( this process takes a about 2 minutes tops) My brand new Ridgeline had to be updated in this the first week I had it- seems like something the dealer could/should do have done for me.
